Mission Statement
The Division of Adult Institutions (DAI) protects the public
through secure and humane treatment of inmates committed to its custody and affords
inmates the opportunity to gain skills and insight into their criminal behavior that are
needed to support a crime-free life upon release to the community.
Goals
The Division oversees 20 adult correctional facilities and three bureaus. The Division is also responsible for the administration of the Wisconsin Correctional Center System, a state prison which encompasses 16 Correctional Centers located throughout the state housing approximately 2,150 inmates. Center staff work closely with probation and parole agents in the transition of inmates back into the community. Correctional Centers offer programming which includes basic education, alcohol and drug counseling, cognitive intervention, work experience and work release.
